Sequester

REHABILITATE REINVIGORATE EMPOWER

India is heating up faster than it can adapt—yet most “greening” still treats trees and water as decoration, not life-saving infrastructure. Sequester turns neglected urban spaces into data-rich green and blue assets that cool cities, cut health risks, and unlock new value for communities, governments, and capital.

By fusing epidemiology, ecology, and engineering, Sequester designs climate-smart commons that reduce heat stress, lower metabolic disease risk, and generate quantifiable health and economic returns. Communities are co-owners from day one, ensuring each site is not just planted, but stewarded and productive over time.

For funders, investors, and builders, Sequester offers a plug-and-play way to turn ESG, CSR, and climate commitments into visible, measurable impact—on rooftops, in Anganwadis, schools, colleges, community health centers and across the dense urban fabric where vulnerability is highest.

Green Brigade- Community centric rehabilitation of green and blue spaces

We rehabilitate neglected urban spaces with the people who live and work around them, turning neglected land into high-performing social and climate infrastructure.

After restoration, we embed simple, tech-enabled and culturally grounded accountability loops that plug into local plans—so every site’s cooling, usage, and co-benefits stay visible and trackable over time.

For builders, campuses, malls, and brands, each landscape is designed as an asset: lower heat and energy costs, better visitor and worker experience, stronger ESG performance, and new livelihood opportunities that keep the site alive and cared for.

Our Mission

Transform neglected urban landscapes into high-performing green assets that cool cities, cut health risks, sequester carbon, and generate shared value for communities, businesses, and capital

Co-design and relationship building

We tap into community wisdom to understand what it means for a commmunity to truly thrive and unlock the potential for connection, activity, play and comfort in the spaces they inhabit.

We do this through cultivating deep relationships with residents, identifying representatives and connecting with the community through them. These leaders then go on to become nodal officers for the community

Implementation and Long-Term Support

For builders, campuses, malls, and brands, each landscape is designed as an asset: lower heat and energy costs, better visitor experience, stronger ESG performance.

Economic Sustainability Initiatives

To secure long-term care, we help communities develop sustainable economic activities that generate revenue for ongoing maintenance and improvements. These may include vocational training, health and peer education clinics, local food enterprises, and other community-led projects that strengthen both livelihoods and green infrastructure resilience.

We provide continuous support post-rehabilitation, ensuring these economic and stewardship activities thrive, maintaining the health and benefits of restored urban landscapes over time.

Indubhushan Mishra

Executive Director, Engineering & Project Delivery

With over four decades of experience as a Chief Scientist and Head of Engineering at CSIR labs, Indubhushan is the master builder who transforms Sequester's vision into enduring physical assets. A civil engineer specializing in project management and sustainable materials, he has led the development and execution of large-scale, complex infrastructure projects from initial survey to final commissioning. His expertise ensures every Sequester project is executed with rigorous technical precision, durability, and a commitment to innovative, low-impact construction. Harsh Mehta

Lead, Technology & Product

Harsh is the architect of Sequester's digital ecosystem, building the technology that connects our communities directly to our mission. A full-stack product engineer, he has proven experience leading the entire development lifecycle of mobile applications for major government bodies, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. His expertise in Flutter, Firebase, and cloud platforms is instrumental in creating the tools that power our on-the-ground operations—from citizen-led site nomination to real-time impact tracking. Harsh ensures that every physical intervention is supported by a robust, scalable, and user-centric digital infrastructure.

Our Team

Navya Mishra

Director, Research, Partnerships and Impact

Navya founded Sequester to create a tangible, on-the-ground solution to one of the most critical public health challenges of our time. A life-course epidemiologist with deep expertise in climate and health, she identified the urgent need to build environmental resilience for biologically vulnerable populations. Her pioneering research and development of advanced AI-driven models form the scientific backbone of Sequester's mission. Navya translates complex data into community-centric interventions that transform urban landscapes into vital public health infrastructure, positioning Sequester at the forefront of ecological restoration and climate adaptation.

Sujata M

Lead, Community Capacity & Ecology

Sujata translates Sequester's scientific mission into practical, community-led action. A botanist specializing in soil bioremediation and rapid afforestation, she is an expert in restoring the ecological health of degraded landscapes using advanced methods like the Miyawaki technique. At Sequester, she architects our capacity-building programs, using adult learning principles to empower community members with the skills to become long-term stewards of their revitalized green spaces. Sujata's work is critical to our model, ensuring that every project not only restores the environment but also builds lasting social resilience and ecological expertise within the communities we serve.

Dipti Singhania

Lead, Policy & Impact Strategy

Dipti is the strategic link between Sequester's local interventions and national systems-level change. As a public policy professional with extensive experience at UNICEF and in advising key government bodies like NITI Aayog, she specializes in using data to drive evidence-based policy. She brings advanced expertise in economics, data science, and machine learning to design robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks for Sequester. Dipti's role is to measure the multi-faceted impact of our work—from heat mitigation to community well-being—and translate these findings into scalable models that can inform and influence public policy across India.
